Facilities
Horspath Community Hub offers a variety of facilities, including a spacious main hall, a meeting room, a kitchen, and a lovely garden.
Entrance Area
The entrance area welcomes you into the middle of the Hub via a side door. Here you have access everywhere: The main hall, meeting room, kitchen and two cloakrooms (toilets), one of which is designed specifically for disabled people. The entrance area is 7m by 4.5m making a perfect reception room for the main hall. The First Aid Box is housed in this area as is a portable defibrillator.
Main Hall
Our main hall is airy and brightly painted and is 8.5m by 7m in size. The large windows all come with attractive blackout curtains, and we have a ceiling mounted projector and audio-visual system at your disposal. Large speakers are mounted either side of one wall which itself has been especially treated to act as a very large screen. In addition to the door from the entrance area, there is a larger front door which allows easy access for those who need that facility. We have enough chairs to seat 70 people, and a wide range of different size tables to suit a whole variety of functions. This is an ideal room for parties, conferences, receptions, exhibitions and of course classes.
Meeting Room
This is a smaller room for meetings or small activities. It is cosy yet functional and being carpeted affords a more relaxing place to meet. The room itself measures 5m by 3.5m and can be hired separately to the main hall as it is easily accessible via the side through the entrance area. It has access to the garden via the fire door.
The Kitchen
The kitchen comes fully equipped with an electric ceramic cooker, microwave, separate fridge and freezer, sink units and work surfaces. There is a large urn available, teapots, jugs, mugs, cups, saucers, plates and cutlery, enough for an army, and all appliances are regularly PAT tested. The Hub’s licence does not permit cooking meals or baking from scratch, but can be used for re-heating food and preparing cold food.
Garden
This is set mainly to grass with some attractive flower beds and rockery. The lawn is mowed regularly during the growing season. There is parking here for up to four cars, but it is quite tight. The approach to the main entrance is wide enough to take delivery vans or cars, and the exterior gates may be locked if you need extra security when hiring the whole hub and garden. It is certainly large enough for a small barbecue, a bouncy castle or a marquee, but the responsibility would be down to the hirer if used.
